Ultimate Podcasting Challenge: Taking shape…

Metamorphosis...The world is full of fantastic people. Thankfully many of them have already signed up to the Ultimate Podcasting Challenge. Heartfully I thank everyone who has committed to this exciting experiment so far.

Today I launched a quick questionnaire to best evaluate everyone’s needs from a challenge like this. Dutifully, most people already signed up have responded. For those fine people yet to sign up for the Ultimate Podcasting Challenge, you’ll be taken straight through to the quick form after entering your email address to the right.

It’s been an interesting learning experience for me, to help you learn how to podcast.

Initially (and for about five-six hours) I toiled on a PDF-style ‘manual’ that we’d work through, in episodic format (don’t ask me why I thought it would be remotely fun to call each chapter an episode – I suspect this is more to do with my corny humour than effectiveness).

Through the wonders of the Ultimate Podcasting Challenge questionnaire I realised everyone had different needs. Way beyond that a traditional ‘guide’ could sate.

The Ultimate Podcasting Challenge will therefore be predominantly webinar driven.

The benefits of this are manifest; however, for those who can attend the live calls, there will be lots of opportunity for Q and As. And at the end of each webinar, a challenge to take you through to the next session.

Originally I wanted to plant the seed of creativity in ‘episode’ 1, then help it through subsequent chapters til you had a big oak tree at the end. This will still be the intention as to the way the challenge is structured – but the creativity, I’m sure, will be instigated to much greater a degree by everyone who’s taking the Challenge rather than just me.

It’s going to be practical. And there will be repetition (needed so everything sinks in) which will create massive momentum for you to go forward and create and publish your first show.

Most people say they learn best through listening or watching, rather than reading. That rather flies in the face of my initial intent. But that’s all good – I want it to work for you. I want you to experience massive success; the only way you’ll commit to striving for excellence is by doing things your way. I’m happy to rock that party.

We’ll still follow a similar format to the original program plan, but expect there to be a large number of ‘branches’ as we deviate to cater to everyone’s needs.

So how will it work. In principle, thus:

  • At least a week before the course starts, I’ll tell you what hardware you need to start the challenge.
  • You’ll each be given a buddy group.
  • Each week, you’ll have to complete a quick assignment.
  • Before the next session is presented (or you’re able to listen to it if you’re unable to attend) each member of your group will have the opportunity to listen to your work and provide a quick constructive critique.
  • There’ll be a forum where you can discuss each element of the challenge to chart your own progress and share everyone else’s. Much will be learned in this way – perhaps more than you’ll receive from the webinars, which will be packed with ways to get things moving.
  • At the end of the Ultimate Podcasting Challenge, you’ll have published your first show.

Enough of a teaser for you?

If you haven’t signed up, do so. Now. By entering your email address to the right, and completing a quick questionnaire to establish your goals and hopes for the Ultimate Podcasting Challenge.
