Well today was the day I was bringing everything back.
After a couple of weeks of inertia and lethargy (compared to my usual productivity levels; that still means piling through some quality content, but at a far slower pace than my friends in business expect) I vowed this weekend to hit Monday at full power.
So I did. And now work on the Ultimate Podcasting Challenge is very much underway.
The question is:
Will the Ultimate Podcasting Challenge be free or $97?
The answer depends on you.
I’ve got about 30 people signed up right now. We need to get to 100.
If I finish creating the Challenge before 100 people subscribe, I sell it. Probably for $97, since it seems to be the going rate for just about anything these days.
I might have opined earlier that if you’re on top of a hobby, in love with a pastime or just committed to the success of your business, the most effective way of communicating this passion is through podcasting. It’s cheap, it’s value-packed and it’s damn near guaranteed to get people talking.
I just came off a call with one of my wannabe clients who said their number one challenge to getting a show off the ground is confidence. Confidence in getting it right, confidence in getting the thumbs up from their audience.
Well, guess what? The Ultimate Podcasting Challenge will conquer your fears and address precisely those confidence issues. There’s a reason why this adventure is liberally seasoned with the word ‘ultimate’ – put simply, there’s nothing else out there that will get you from a to z in the quickest and most effective way possible.
You have to sign up, now. There’s a little box on the right that’ll take your email address.
If you’ve already signed up – or if you haven’t, and have no intention to, but simply want to get podcasting, here’s what you need to buy:
- A microphone. You can start with a microphone that’ll slot straight into your PC. It will do the job, whatever the pros tell you. And you can even practice with your phone – or use it to record a real show using the recently launched Blue Mikey (iPod and iPhones only). Hook up this plug-and-play USB microphone to your computer to get recording right away. These ‘pros’ – technically, they’re right, if you’re an audiophile. Making a leap to a mixer and pro mic might be your ultimate goal, at which point you need to grab a Shure SM58 microphone (buy from Amazon UK or Amazon US) which works a treat for spoken word shows. We can talk mixers at a later date.
- A webcam or digital video recorder. There’s only one recommendation from my camp: the Kodak Zi8, because you can plug a microphone in which is pretty much essential if you’re talking away from the camera (buy from Amazon UK or Amazon US).
- A web host. I use hostgator – quick, easy and cheap as candy from a kitten. You’ll need this as a place to put your WordPress-powered website.
- Subscription to libsyn or blubrry media storage services. We’re only talking about $12/month to send out your podcasts to an unlimited audience. You’ll need one of the latter, sooner or later, so my advice would be jump in now to save you having to move your podcasts around in the future.
That’s it. You can put your wallet away, now. There’s nothing else to buy. You’re all set to learn how to actually record and publish your podcast. It’s all in the Ultimate Podcasting Challenge.
Now will you sign up? Hesitate, and I might beat you to it, thus eliminating the freeness of this incredible course.
Then you’ll have to pay…
Hey thanks, hiddedevries, for this picture of a mic, taking off. Apparently.
